New playground for Peckwater Estate in Kentish Town
IT'S playtime in Kentish Town, with the opening of a new 'natural' play area designed specifically for 8 to 13 year olds. The park, on the Peckwater Estate, forms part of a wider council bid to target children with less access to outside activity. National government funding is being used to open or improve 29 play areas across Camden.
The site makes extensive use of organic materials such as wood, and focus on helping children develop balance while having fun. Pat Manly, secretary of the Peckwater Estate Residents Association, said: “Children have been out there bright and early and are thoroughly enjoying it.” Kentish Town resident Emma Ray, 10, described the park as “great fun”. She added: “It's much better than what was here before.”
