Marjorie Vennall's centenary

Fr David Houlding escorts Marjorie to the church

SHE’S got a friend for every year of her life, and centenarian Marjorie Vennall was joined by them all on Saturday when she celebrated a hundred years living in Gospel Oak.
The sprightly pensioner pulled up outside All Hallows Church in Courthope Road – where she has been a member of the congregation for 94 years – in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce.
She was then applauded as she made her way up the aisle to her seat unaided – fulfilling an ambition she held since the Queen Mother achieved the same feat in St Paul’s cathedral on her 100th birthday.
Marjorie was also presented with the medal of St Mellitus – an honour awarded by the Bishop of London for those who have given distinctive service to the Church in London.
