Concern at drug use sparks homes swoop

POLICE acting on complaints about anti-social behaviour raided homes in Barnsbury on Tuesday.
Islington Safer Neighbourhoods Taskforce and Barnsbury Safer Neighbourhoods team targeted properties in Dewey Road.
The raids followed complaints from neighbours about drug use, handling stolen goods, litter and mopeds being driven dangerously.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering after an undisclosed amount of cash and drugs paraphernalia were found in one of the raided homes.
A second man, in his early 40s, was given a police warning and fine for possession of cannabis.
An Islington police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing and officers will be patrolling the area daily and liaising with Mosaic Housing until this issue is resolved. This is a continuing initiative to reduce anti-social behaviour in the borough.”
