Closure of Mornington Leisure Centre

THE Mornington Leisure Centre, which was expensively refurbished and reopened not so long ago, is threatened with closure from December 2012.

In case you haven’t noticed, 2012 is the year of the London Olympics. Hundreds of thousands are going to take up sport, many for the first time.

The big money operators: the Duncan Bannatynes and Richard Bransons of this world are going to open gyms, not close them!

If Camden Council does what it threatens to do it will scrap a facility that is not only popular and successful but also potentially profitable.

Is that what the council means by “not for profit”?
