Clinic ‘Horlicks’ a wake-up call

Published: 29 September, 2011

• IT’S outrageous that the primary care trust decided behind closed doors that the glorious listed Stanley Buildings will not become a public facility (Clinic deal collapse was ‘a right Horlicks’ 22 September).

I was looking forward to these Victorian dwellings for workers being opened up to the public.

They were going to meet our growing need for health facilities here as the numbers of people living and working in King’s Cross goes up.

This episode shows we urgently need to make our NHS democratic. Never again should those entrusted with NHS money be able to make secretive decisions, and then inform councillors once it’s too late.

So many decisions about our area’s future are being made behind closed doors.

We still don’t know what the council’s position is on the proposed new secondary school.

And when will we get a say on the town hall annexe redevelopment?
