Bottom end!

• I HAVE just read John Gulliver (August 25) regarding the recent “riot” journalism and middle class journalists’ coverage of it.

In one paragraph, he states that when he started out in journalism, “most reporters came from the bottom end of society – often from council estates”.

I live on a council estate and I do not consider myself at the bottom end of society.

I love the New Journal but I find Mr Gulliver’s view quite hurtful and rather ironic considering what his piece was about.

Clearly Mr Gulliver has forgotten that many people who read his column every week live on council estates.

If we are going to talk about bottom ends, I hope that Mr Gulliver thinks before he writes out of his.
