After the disorder…

Published: September 8, 2011

I ATTENDED one of the summits called to hear the views of people and organisations on the public disorder in Camden Town and Chalk Farm.

I was surprised that, in addition to the three speakers on the top table whose views I listened to with great interest, that no young person was asked to speak in the introduction; but later there were views expressed succinctly by young people in the audience.

We have to seek a situation where young people are involved in the regeneration of our borough; where they are involved in the future planning; where their views are constantly sought and respected; where the Youth Council and Youth MP are involved in working in the wards on estates, in voluntary organisations; and from the three summits an in-depth plan is produced to seek full involvement with young people in how we decide the future of this borough.
