Pushing out the creative industries

• WHY were local residents not informed or invited to the consultation for the Saatchi redevelopment building proposals?

I have spoken to many residents in the area, none of whom knew anything about this and are now once again disheartened to learn that yet another building is being overdeveloped with no consideration or sense of scale for the surrounding area which forms part of the Fitzrovia Conservation Area (Council reject Saatchi development, but mayor Boris overturns decision, September 22).

The Saatchi proposal dwarfs neighbouring buildings and will end up pushing out the creative industries which Fitzrovia attracts and is part of its intrinsic character and why the area is unique.

What use is conservation area designation if developers are given permission to revoke that “protection”?
