Cheap but heartless

• MANY of us may suffer temporary or permanent mental anguish (Mum faces six-hour trip to visit her mentally ill son, September 29). So, why is it that cuts to  mental health are reported, while cosmetic surgery, IVF, cancer and cardiac seem to be free from radical cutbacks? Or is it due to the lack of reporting.

A family, especially a mother, must look after a sick relative. Nurses don’t have time for anything but clinical care. Amelia Williams is obviously greatly needed by her son, for his wellbeing.

Whether they suffer from old age or mental health, relocating people out of the borough to somewhere cheaper is totally heartless.

On two visits to an X-ray department this year, I noticed three idle receptionists.

On my return, a month later, there was also a volunteer to help with the appointments. A cut here would go unnoticed. One chap was finding things to do on the computer, because he was bored.
