Stores can join the fun

• I WOULD like to congratulate the Lymington Road Residents’ Association (LRRA) for doing an extremely good job in organising a street party on the day of the royal wedding.
It was a very good way of getting the public together and showed that there was still a sense of community spirit among local people.
However I am rather disappointed that the traders on West End Lane did not have a sense of occasion. Although the traders were open for business I would have thought that two of the largest retailers in West Hampstead – Tesco and Sainsbury would have set an example.
Perhaps if they had shown a slight interest and closed their doors until the wedding ceremony was over then it would have also encouraged some of the smaller traders to do the same.
Maybe David Cameron should have made it much clearer that it was a public holiday for all and not just those that do not have a business.
Tesco and Sainsbury take note; (as well as the small trader) please join in when there are occasions such as this.
That way everyone could have joined in the celebrations or at least have taken part in what was meant to be an extra bank holiday.
It is good to have a bit of fun during these hard times. In fact it’s a necessity.
After all profit and money isn’t everything. Once again well done Lymington Road for setting an example!
