Soul in the City festival’s aim is to bring people together

Published: 27th May, 2011

• READERS may be interested to hear about the free neighbourhood festival – Soul in the City – during half term (May 31-June 5) at churches in Islington.

It will include six fantastic days of free entertainment, food, art-based workshops and community projects. As an Islington resident for 12 years and mother of three, I believe this is just what our community needs.

The aim of the event is simply to meet and make new friends, with a particular focus on young people and families. There will be something for everybody, ranging from opera, hip hop and theatre to dance, talent shows, community improvement projects and sporting competitions.

The week will conclude with a weekend of family fun days, with children’s and youth activities, including games at churches and council estates. Check out soulinthecityislington.blogspot.com.
