Sir Geoffrey Bindman QC and Leigh Day

• JOHN Gulliver (May 19) kindly credits me with welcome but unwarranted youthfulness when when he says the firm Leigh Day “drew in Geoffrey Bindman before he set up his own company”.

To put the record straight, Bindman & Partners started in 1974 and Sarah Leigh, who had been my trainee, was one of the original partners. Martyn Day joined us as an assistant some years later. In 1987 he and Sarah established Leigh Day.

So they are the chip off the old block – a very worthy one, I hope – and not the other way round!
