Rich politicians don’t care about the people

• I AM dismayed and outraged by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat cuts and their plans in Westminster borough.
These savage cuts by government are devastating and negatively impact on the lives of disabled people, the cancer sufferers, the carers, homeless people, families and children, youths, students, housing benefit claimants, local libraries facing closure and staff made redundant.
Also hit are the recipients of funding for hospices, specialists school provisions, and care packages.
The Disability Living Allowances have been slashed, while adults needing full-time residential care and children in hospital are now feeling these mean cuts.
The politicians who live in their Pimlico gold and ivory towers are angry as to why they should share the borough with poor people who live in council accommodation.
Tory-LibDem rich politicians want their poor council tenant neighbours out of the borough.
Westminster residents must not let this happen.
There are plans to:
• withdraw all the help and services afforded to disabled people in the borough;
• merge the borough with other councils, increasing our council tax, cutting middle-management jobs within the council and services and employing a senior member of staff on a salary higher than David Cameron’s;
• increase rent and services to council tenants who earn a certain amount and this would be means-tested based on household income including teenagers’ little Saturday jobs income.
This will price out middle-earners and force families to move out of Westminster.
David Cameron wants to end the policy of a council house for life. Over-charging parents will also make it impossible for them to afford to send their children to a local play centre and this will cause some to close.
We have seen plans to ban feeding of homeless people in Westminster, and make it an offence to sleep rough at the same time.
Funding to hostels is being slashed.
Resist these cuts and plans by going to: http://tinyurl. com/6j7d6sn and make your voice heard by signing the petition.
There are alternatives to these short, sharp, devastating cuts.
