Great news for users of the Sobell Leisure Centre rink that repairs put on ice
Published: 27th May, 2011
• THE newly-refurbished ice rink at Sobell Leisure Centre, paid for by Islington Council and residents, has now been out of operation for several months.
At the request of Sobell ice rink users, I contacted Islington Council last week and have been assured by the leader, Councillor Catherine West, that repair work to the rink is imminent and the facility will be fully operational again shortly.
Councillor Paul Convery has added that the provisional date for completion of the ice rink work is August 26.
This is great news for all rink users who have been without this highly valued community facility for far too long.
I trust the additional upfront costs required to make this newly refurbished facility operational at long last will be reclaimed by the council.
Users who have been without this facility for several months must also be fully compensated.
