Celebrate our music heritage

• MANY thanks for printing the photograph of the fundraising dinner we hosted for our charity the Roundhouse Trust.

As I write I have just under two weeks left as Mayor of Camden.

The Mayoress and I have both had an amazing year and we have received a fantastic welcome from residents across the borough.

There are still ample opportunities to join us and celebrate Camden’s music heritage.

On Friday May 6 the Mayoress will be hosting her own May Ball at Barfly with amazing bands and some of London’s finest DJ acts.

On Saturday May 7 Jonathan will be hosting “Mayorfest” at Barfly in the evening and will be joined by some amazing DJs, including Bob Stanley from St Etienne.

Jonathan will even be trying his hand at DJing.

On our final night as Mayor and Mayoress, May 10, we will be hosting what we have termed “Mayoreoke” at the Black Heart in Camden.

We will be encouraging all those who attend to have a go at singing some of Camden’s most famed songs at a karaoke evening.

All our events are to help support the excellent work that the Roundhouse Trust does with young people in the performing arts.

We do hope you are able to attend.

Very heartfelt thanks to the New Journal and all its readers for your support during an amazing year.

We remain so proud to live in the rock and roll capital of the world and of everyone who makes Camden the wonderful place it is.
