Baskets are back again in Highbury Barn

• THE article about the Labour council’s decision to do away with Islington’s prize-winning hanging baskets and floral displays did not mention one corner of the borough which will be spared through the actions of its Lib Dem councillors (Cut flowers – by order, May 20).

My colleagues Julie Horten, Terry Stacy and I are bringing back the hanging baskets to Highbury Barn. 

The new baskets are on order and should be brightening up this popular shopping and dining area in the next week or two.

While the Labour council spreads gloom and despondency, Highbury at least will continue to bloom.
