• TRUST Camden Council to insult public opinion by recommending approval for a scruffy looking prisoner of war memorial on a traffic island in Camden High Street – an area blighted by bird-fouling, anti-social behaviour and noise pollution.

This harsh environment is inconsistent with the plaque’s inscription which refers to “those who asked for nothing but remembrance of their lives and a promise of peace for future generations”.

There is the possibility of vandalism, not to mention the loss of space for the Christmas tree.

World War Two memorials are for an older generation and should be in a better class area, not where crack dealers from south London ply the bus routes.
