What a lot of waste

• THE Labour opposition leader Paul Dimoldenberg asked in his letter (No controls over a huge waste of public money, March 18) what the “Transformation” department related to.
I read that its head will be overseeing the integration of Westminster City Council’s part in the three boroughs (with Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea) “service mergers”, both financially and logistically.
Of course, again, this will be another post and support staff created by WCC and no doubt will not come cheap.
What astounds me is that some staff, allegedly temporary, are getting private healthcare in their package of perks.
The council keep banging on about saving money, but I do not hear anything about cutting costs of very senior staff – or about councillors contributing to saving money.
The council and their agents were culpable in the huge Icelandic banks investments collapse, not assessing that parking fines revenue would be reduced in the recession and more.
That’s on top of the profligacy outlined by the Labour leader last week.
