• THE winter fuel allowance is to be reduced by £50 for pensioners.
Those over 80 will lose £100. But this is not a reduction, insists a spokesperson. It’s just that they won’t be paying the temporary “top-up” introduced by Gordon Brown’s Labour government.
When is a reduction not a reduction? When Osborne says so?
