Use reserves

Published: 24 March, 2011

• I HEAR Camden Council holds reserves of £96.8million with a statutory requirement to hold some 2.5 per cent of their total spend of approximately £320 million.

Why can’t Camden use a fraction of the reserves to keep services open? Henderson Court, a day centre in Hampstead would need about £230,000 a year to retain all those valuable services for the elderly. St James’s House in Camden, where people with mental health issues receive valuable support and in-house training, would require £200,000 to continue its work.
