Listen to us

• ISSUES like the high speed rail consultation underline the need for a shake-up in democracy (Camden Council yet to condemn high speed train link, March 17).

How often have we all had the feeling that we are not being listened to by government or the council?

Whether it’s on demolishing council homes or closing day centres I want our representatives to stop putting their hands over their ears and start listening to us for once.

A fairer voting system that forces MPs to listen to everybody in their constituencies and not just narrow interests will be a good start.

With AV MPs will be chucked out if they only listen to the people who always vote for their party.

They’ll have to start listening or they won’t win 50 per cent of the votes.
