Eye don’t believe it…

Published: 24 March, 2011

• I AM absolutely disgusted at the removal of the “Eye Believe” street art that was removed from Lulworth tower block, Agar Grove (Stopped believing? Tower slogan is painted over, March 17).

The tenants were invited to give their opinion on the matter, which I thought was a very apt course of action. The vote was quite firmly in favour of keeping the street art, with a very large proportion of the tenants expressing their view. Then, against all wishes of the tenants, the wonderful uplifting wording was removed.  Why?

Does Camden Council not respect the wishes of the tenants?

Why didn’t the tenant management committee uphold the wishes of the tenants that voted them into their roles?

I wonder – who actually took the decision to paint over (very poorly) the wording.

I am appalled that this action was taken, and have lost all respect for those involved with the removal.
