Danger and rudeness of mobile phone users

Published: 17th March, 2011

• WHEN getting on a bus in Camden Town, I saw a young woman waiting in the queue being pushed onto a busy road by a man in the queue whose only concern appeared to be writing a text message on his phone.

Fortunately the woman was left unharmed, although the man was oblivious throughout and boarded the bus none the wiser. I was, however, reminded of another incident some weeks earlier at the town hall, which involved a resident politely asking a senior Camden councillor to cease using his mobile phone and to pay due attention to issues being raised by a group who had made the effort to attend a meeting on a cold winter evening.I appreciate that, like most of us, councillors lead busy lives and urgent issues arise from time to time, but this seems almost like standard practice at the town hall these days.
