Complacent bigotry

• SO Councillor Adam Harrison writes “…as a country we remain very tolerant, including tolerating those who believe gay people should not yet receive the same level of freedoms as their straight friends and neighbours.” (Letters, March 10)  

I suggest that he replaces the word “gay” in that sentence with “black” and the word “straight” with “white”, and then ask himself if he would still conclude that “now, that is tolerance.”  

As a gay man I have no wish for his “tolerance”. I feel no tolerance for a Labour Party represented by his complacent bigotry.
