A classic shopping experience

• THE world seems to be going to hell in a hand-basket but I take comfort in the ongoing presence in Kentish Town of Blustons.
We may have two chain coffee shops and a new funeral parlour but this week my spirits have been lifted to see a man hard at work on a scaffolding, touching up the paintwork on the striking and unchanged sign atop Blustons classic shop, still proudly shouting its wares: “coats” and “gowns”.
There are times when I’ve wondered whether that lovely centre-stage red polkadot summer frock (£59) is actually a covert message to some John le Carré sleeper spy to confirm that “everything is all right”. Long may Blustons reign!
