Che’s travels

Published: 18 March 2011

• THE revelation for Che Guevara and the late Alberto Granado (Review, Farewell to the real Poderoso, March 11) on their travels as young men, was that the illnesses they saw were the result of malnutrition, poor hygiene, lack of medicines and countries’ production controlled and exported by US-owned companies.

So what to do?

Guevara was motivated not by lust for money, material rewards, or comfort, but by love of justice and a challenge: “I’m not interested in an economic transformation unless it’s accompanied by a socialist morality.”
