Wanted: super hero

• YOU ran a story about the Talacre development (Dangerous sports centre road needs two marshals, April 14).
There has been a resounding silence on the necessity for a second marshal to control the Prince of Wales Road end of Dalby Street.
Consider the tasks faced by a single marshal stationed near the sports centre. This is a job for a super hero.
He or she will need to:
• be in control of a road which goes round a seven-storey building from one corner to the opposite corner with only a third of the road visible and, crucially, not the junction of Dalby Street and Prince of Wales Road, just 2.7m from a railway bridge;
• book deliveries to the centre at half hourly intervals up to 2pm and presumably deal with incredulous suppliers;
• let down a bollard 14m from Prince of Wales Road, intended to stop large vehicles entering or leaving… the large vehicles will need help reversing into Prince of Wales Road, providing no car is blocking them in or they will have to be let in so that they can travel to the other end of the road, go round a turning circle and return to the bollard;
• supervise safety at the centre end where pedestrians cross;
• monitor CCTV of the overhung pedestrian footpath, essential after dusk;
• let down telescopic bollards near the centre entrance to admit large vehicles; and more…
How will they find someone who can be in two places at the same time?
