The Soho village will miss Janet

Published: 10 June, 2011

• THE Soho village has lost one of its most active and loyal villagers, Janet Vance (Obituary, June 3).

Despite the fact that she was confined to a wheelchair for most of her life, this did not prevent Janet from taking a most active role in village life.

She was dedicated to the pastoral work of St Anne’s Church, Dean Street, and was a member of the St Anne’s parochial church council at the time of her death. Previously she was a hard working member of the Soho Society and of the Soho Housing Association.

She lived in Clarion House, St Anne’s Court, a SHA property.

Janet will be remembered for her contribution to the St Anne’s senior citizens’ lunches and for her role in past Soho festivals and Christmas pantomimes.

Living in a wheelchair in central London was not easy, but this fact never prevented Janet from making a valuable contribution to the Soho community. She will be missed.
