Reports of attacks by foxes
Published: 16 June, 2011
• WITH reference to Julia Jakoby’s letter (Foxes don’t eat kids, do they? June 9) she posed the question as she rebuked a local resident for his projected shooting of foxes.
Well, they are reported as attacking children.
The media carried on June 7 last year, that in east London twins were mauled in their cots as they slept.
Further gruesome reports in March 2010 gave how a fox dug up and ate (the authorities assumed, it seemed, with valid reason), the body of a new-born baby which had been placed, having died in hospital, in a paper coffin, in an open “pauper’s grave” for babies.
This was in Battersea New Cemetery, which was apparently the usual procedure unknown, I think I recall, to its parents. Foxes also are often carriers of mange, evident from some of those I have spotted locally. This has the possibility of being passed to dogs, surely?
