Offer cash incentives for people to move to more suitable properties
Published: 16 June, 2011
• THERE is such unfairness, regarding criteria for council house applications.
I know of many elderly people whose spouses and children have left the family home leaving them in a two- or three-bedroom property, many with gardens; yet at the same time there is a massive waiting list of people, who are desperate for a ground-floor flat, because of a disability. Others need a larger place because of overcrowding, including me.
The council should offer people a cash incentive to move to a property that is more suitable to them. This would give those suffering overcrowding, the chance to move to a property that they so desperately need.
