No explanation for failure to organise ‘new’ refuse collections

Published: 30 June, 2011

• IN May Camden distributed printed notices to all residents notifying them that as a cost-cutting exercise the two refuse collections per week (Monday and Thursday) would be replaced with just one collection per week and that rubbish was to be ready by 7am on a Tuesday from June 6.

I do not believe Camden have taken into account that every property on this street (a mile long) is divided into multi-occupational flats.

On June 7 contractor Veolia did indeed collect, but the following week they did not make a collection on the 14th and admitted to many calls from residents complaining. This was put down to a miscollection and the refuse was collected on the afternoon of the 15th. On the 21st again, there was no collection. I called Camden to ask why. I was again told this would be reported as a “miscollection”.

On both occasions I was promised a return call and advised to send an email which I did. No response eight days later by email or telephone…

And no explanation.
