Homeless can tuck in

Published: 24th June, 2011

• TO put the record straight, our organisation – The Sunday Club – offers sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, tea and coffee (and soup in winter) without charge to homeless and hard-up people every Sunday from 3-5pm in the crypt of St John the Evangelist Church, Duncan Terrace, Angel (Why deprive homeless of a hot and healthy meal? June 17).

The Sunday Club has existed without a break for about 35 years. We are an independent organisation, but the church supports us by giving us the premises, heating and light. The parishioners and school donate tea, coffee and sugar.

All our workers are volunteers but we could not operate without grants from bodies such as Islington Community Chest. Anyone in need is welcome to come along.
