Heartfelt thanks to a great community centre

Published: 23 June, 2011

• I WOULD like to relate my experiences, since joining Castlehaven Community Association (CCA).

I went along in October 2009, with some trepidation, as I had never been part of such a set-up.

I need not have worried; the whole staff were not only welcoming, they made me feel part of the place. I suppose not knowing anyone can be a bit off-putting. If you are on your own, or just wanting to join in and meet new friends, the CCA is the place for you.

There are so many activities: exercises, a walking club, cookery class with a professional chef, male and female groups, bridge clubs for beginners. There are just too many to list. To find out more, just contact the CCA office.

You will not be disappointed.

I am 64 now, and have just started to play bridge. I have also been on coach trips to so many places, like Brighton, Sandwich, Deal, etc, as well as “Oyster Card” trips to places like Hampton Court and the Tower of London.

The CCA is such a wonderful place, and the people could not be more helpful.

Eleanor Botwright is the director, with Francis Shanks as her “number two”. Along with their team, they run the place with great care, warmth and attention for toddlers, right thought to seniors.

The CCA has given me a chance to live, and be involved, and for that I thank them all.
