Yogi Mayer, incredible man

• I READ with great interest, the obituary about Paul Yogi Mayer.

He obviously had an incredible life, and was definitely an incredible man.

I think it’s a tragic shame, that, as a good athlete, he was not allowed to take part in the 1936 Berlin Olympics because his race was deemed to be inferior to represent his country.

It’s disgusting to think he and his fellow Jewish athletes were deliberately misled into joining an Olympic training squad, knowing they would not be allowed to enter.

The 1936 Berlin Olympics are known in history for Jesse Owens – a black man – proving that Aryan physical supremacy over others does not exist.
