We need more information about football pitches

• AS a parent and chair of a local tenants’ and residents’ association, I would like to respond to the debate about the future and management arrangements of the Malden Road football pitches now under the control of the Queen’s Crescent Community Association.

Before management of the pitches was passed to QCCA from Camden Council, a programme of activities for local youngsters had been organised and advertised in the council’s own magazine, at no cost to the community.

Unfortunately the letters (July 14) signed by councillors, including the cabinet member for housing as well as the directors of QCCA, still fail to inform the community of important information, such as the opening times of the pitches and who exactly will be charged to use them, although much of this was referred to in the letters as “structured” activities.

The letters also failed to mention that the council will still continue to maintain the pitches at a cost to local tenants and residents as confirmed in paperwork distributed by Camden.

Until information such as who exactly is to be charged for the use of the pitches, including the issue of adequate consultation with the community after the trial period, questions will continue to be asked about the future of these much used and valued community football pitches.
