Speed limit issue shows politicians can work together
Published: 1 July, 2011
• I AM grateful to the Tribune for highlighting the campaign for a 20mph limit in Hornsey Rise and Hornsey Road (‘End this speed limit confusion on road where woman died’, June 24).
I would like to point out that, in addition to strong local resident support, there is cross-party support for the change.
Since my original letter to your paper, the council has shown that it is listening, and I welcome the commitment now made to take urgent action following the most recent fatality on this stretch of highway.
In the adverserial world of local politics, it is not common to praise political opponents, but I want to put on record my thanks to executive member for regeneration Councillor Paul Convery for his intervention, and am pleased that on this issue we can all work together in a constructive way.
