Slow to act on school shortage
Published: July 28, 2011
CAMDEN have been too slow to act on the school shortage. My son Daniel is proof of that.
While Councillor Theo Blackwell (Letters, July 21) says the paper should have referred to the potential rebuilding of Netley, Hawley, King’s Cross etcetera, these school are too far away for us.
As for Liddell Road school, this shouldn’t be mentioned because it has not been built yet and if it is going ahead it’s not going to help my son for September or any of the other children who did not get their preferences.
Liddell Road may still prove too far away for us because Daniel did not get into his nearest community school (No place at the school next door, July 14).
This part of the borough needed these schools before the withdrawal of the £200million of Building Schools for the Future.
Why can’t we have the free school on the empty site in Fitzjohns Avenue? This asset the council wants to sell off as quickly as possible.
Shame they are not as quick when it comes to our kids.
I read your front page article (200 police in gang swoop, July 21). This is the area Camden have chosen for our son Daniel Read to go to school – our 19th nearest community school.
We have refused.
My parents moved us from that area over 35 years ago!
