Save our sergeants

• WE have recently learned that the Safer Neighbourhoods Teams in Mildmay and Highbury East wards are to have a single sergeant for both wards. 

In Mildmay, we have suffered from some serious crime and anti-social behaviour in recent months. We need a sergeant totally dedicated to the area, particularly as we are on the border with Hackney and many of the problems affect both boroughs. 

We have written to the Islington Borough Commander, but our real complaint is with the Conservative Mayor of London who has forced these police cuts on Islington. We are losing four out of 16 sergeants at a time when we need them more than ever.
