Opposition in Somers Town

Published: 13 January, 2011

• I AM one of the local residents who opposes the plan of the medical research centre in Somers Town, living right next to the site, but feeling pretty much pessimistic and apathetic.

I was astonished to learn that our dedicated, hard-working and long-serving councillor Roger Robinson had been totally disregarded by his colleague publicly (We’re not all suffering from a ‘superlabotomy’ over safety hazards, January 6).

It is he who has been working tirelessly for Somers Town residents, it was he who fought against the plan of cross-river tram route (right under my window, again), which was eventually, and thankfully, scrapped by the Mayor of London.

I have seen Cllr Robinson more than a few times over the years, mostly at Chalton Street market on Fridays where he was holding a mini-surgery.

He has continued to work on our behalf.

It is certain that he knows our views of objections regardless of where he lives!
