• MERIC APAK (January 13) is subtly challenging his own party’s seemingly adopted policy of preferring cuts, rather than council tax rises.

And he is being decent enough not to shove down our throats his proposals of modest tax rises to save front-line services but, instead, proposes to give us the choice. I doubt, though, if his masters will listen to him, because most of them are old guard who do not believe in referendums.
