Fares not fair, Boris

Published: 14 January, 2011

• MAYOR Boris Johnson  has increased fares way above the rate of inflation – up by 12.7 per cent on buses and 3.9 per cent on the tube.

However, such massive increases would be completely unnecessary had the mayor not scrapped the western part of the congestion charge zone.

The mayor is losing £55million in revenue by scrapping this part of the scheme.

By weakening the congestion charge it is public transport users who are being forced to pay extra to fill the gap.
