Contract concerns

Published: 14 January, 2011

• IT might seem like just a load of rubbish, but deciding who will process our waste has now become the focus of a coalition of people across north London.

While not many may have heard of North London Waste Authority (NLWA), a load of people are getting exercised about it. We are concerned that one of the bidders is involved in a project the UN Human Rights Council declared illegal – the Jerusalem light rail tramway.

We will discuss the risk that this company might be awarded the NLWA major contract. As the HQ of the company involved is in Islington, we will be meeting in the borough on Wednesday.
