Church of England must look into St Anne’s case
Published: 14 January, 2011
• IN his short time here, David Gilmore reduced the congregation at St Anne’s to a small fraction of what it had been under his predecessors (Soho church naked priest is suspended, January 7).
Perhaps the Church of England needs to take a long look at how he managed to remain in place despite many complaints.
While it is important that the Diocese of London provides this troubled person with support, the wider Soho community needs assistance to overcome his dreary legacy.
The parish council at St Anne’s are still remaining antagonistic towards the Soho Society, for instance, despite the demise of the rector.
Perhaps a few thoughts about the wider community wouldn’t go amiss on their part.
