Basement social values

• IS a planning inspector licensed to permit an offence?  

Anyone found deliberately damaging another’s property would be apprehended. Yet permission has been given for a double basement to be built at No 9 Downshire Hill in  Hampstead which, it is known, will damage neighbouring homes (Go-ahead for big basement at murder home, January 20).

Such a needlessly large development without any benefit to those obliged to endure grief and havoc, and with financial profit as the driving force, is truly shaming.
