Advice centre reprieve was the ideal festive present

• I NEVER saw Labour councillor Richard Greening as Father Christmas but your article shows that he really did get into the festive spirit in the run-up to the holiday (Six-month reprieve for advice centre, December 31).

I am delighted that the council has listened to London Friend, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and the concerns expressed by me at the council’s overview committee, where I raised the issue, and given this group six months to raise the funds needed to buy its property from the council.

Raising the £146,000-plus that is needed will be no easier task, and I do hope that Richard will continue to be as flexible as possible, including around the timetable, as the group pulls out all the stops to buy its building.

London Friend couldn’t ask for a better New Year present in my view. Thank you, Richard.
