Story wrong

• YOUR front page story (Activists ‘win’ in road signs cash cow row, February 11) is wrong – we have not halted “all traffic enforcement in the borough”.
Such a statement has absolutely no basis in reality and would be an abdication of our responsibilities as a council.
The facts of the matter are rather more prosaic.
We are currently reviewing signs and lines at a handful of locations across Westminster to ensure they are clear and easy for motorists to understand.
Members of the public have helpfully pointed out eight locations where we could do better and we are now looking at these to ensure there is no room for confusion.
We know we don’t have a monopoly on knowledge, so we have taken on board the concerns and temporarily suspended enforcement at these locations while we make the amendments.
This is, however, a temporary measure and enforcement will be re-introduced when we are satisfied the signs are accurate and easy to understand.
