Not listening

Published: 3 February, 2011

• WE see that the council are now pleading for wealthy bankers to fund council services, only days after they decided to spurn the advice of Lord Fink, leading hedge fund manager, calling it “spurious” and “frankly silly”.

They want his money but wouldn’t listen to his advice on the Town Hall Annexe, freely offered.

The cabinet, who made the decision to sell the annexe, consists of 10 councillors, only one of whom accepted Lord Fink’s invitation to a meeting. We spent over a week trying to get the others to show a glimmer of interest in meeting Lord Fink, who practically cleared his diary to facilitate a meeting.
