Let them be
Published: 3 February
• I WAS appalled that there are moves to close Great Croft centre.
It’s such a caring home-from-home for so many, to meet, chat, discover new friends and old; and have something to eat when they choose. When Councillor Pat Callaghan says elderly folks will have their needs met elsewhere, she obviously does not know old people. Great Croft is like a home – a refuge if need be – and nowhere else will be the same. When you shift a refuge, older folk can’t adjust, reschedule, change, cope; they know their centre. It has always been there for them.
Let the council find something better to do, and let the Great Croft centre be! One day, those responsible for any changes will be old themselves.
