Is C-word offensive?

• IS it just me who finds the YouTube video that Samantha Cameron made after visiting the Surma Centre extremely patronising?

She mentions the word “curry” at least six times. She promises she’ll come back if she gets a “curry” like this again. All the shots are of her chomping away at “curry” or serving “curry” to these elderly Bengali people she’s graced with her presence. What about issues of overcrowding, Islamaphobia, faith schools and workplace discrimination?

What about the fact that Bengali people are more likely to be detained under the Mental Health Act but are less likely to be referred by their GP than non-Bengali people?

It’s not all about the tikka masala, Samantha, the issues in our community are of a more complex flavour.
