New space
Published: August 25, 2011
YOU report on residents who are concerned about the new space in front of King’s Cross station (Square is ‘wasted opportunity’, August 18).
I have sympathies with them but, faced with similar problems over a smaller space by South Kensington Underground station, it was decided to pave the place first and decide about the use of it afterwards.
Sculpture, a pop-up café, trees, almost anything can be added once the natural walking routes across the place have become clear.
But there is one necessity that will almost inevitably be omitted in this anti-car age… a strip for convenient, drop-off parking along the Euston Road frontage.
As a cyclist I would love bike-racks too.
